Abstract: Melena is reported in 1 of 350 to 400 new-borns. Significant upper gastrointestinal bleeding in a neonate with an antenatally diagnosed abdominal mass has not been reported before. This case highlights an unusual presentation of a gastric teratoma and proposes a probable embryological explanation for the site of occurrence.
